Class: Introduction to Weaving
Weaving is SO MUCH FUN! Many new to the craft discover that weaving opens a door to unlimited creativity and self expression. At Ply, students delight inexperimenting with rich colors and textures, and they are always amazed at the beauty of their woven piece when they are finished!
Here is information for our 2017 Winter/Spring Weaving Workshops:
“Introduction to Weaving” will be offered twice in January (see dates below), and repeated Fridays and Saturdays in February, March and May as well. Attend once or many times to expand your weaving skills and learn new techniques.
Workshop Participants will start weaving on a loom that has already been prepared. After choosing appealing colors, textures, fibers, ribbon, and even found objects, students can jump right in! As each individual is ready, specific aspects of hand weaving will be demonstrated, and students will enjoy creative freedom while learning an art form that is centuries old. This is why you might want to sign up for additional workshops, for more loom time. At the end of class, your piece will be cut from the loom to take home. Most student create wall hangings their first class.
